The fermented life

It has been brought to my attention that I am a bit eccentric. It is true that wine, beer, cider and vinegar are interesting to me for all their goodness and yes, I always have 2 or 3 something's working off. To refer to me as strange or odd makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with you for not trying to make those items.

There must be hundreds of books on these subjects and I have sit for hours watching YouTube videos about brewing. Brewing is an art of taste and the more experienced brewers will tell you there are many batches that are thrown away. Let me teach you something. First lesson is clean, clean, clean and when the think it's clean bleach the hell out of it cause unless you are hoping to catch a wild yeast to make a wine vinegar or a delicious saison beer, keep it clean.

Second lesson is let it work and settle. I know it's hard to wait for but your patience will be rewarded. For the third lesson wait till it is done before you bottle any wine. I was having a very pleasant evening watching the TV when I hear a sound from the kitchen. Pop! What was that i asked myself. Pop, pop, pop and holy crap there was wine from ceiling to floor all across the kitchen. Still to this day not only do we find glass shards but Carol reminds me of the mess I created. Sure you could purchase all your fruits but what good will that do you? Part of the fun is finding your honey hole, watching the berries grow, taking you share and producing your products. It takes 10,000 years for the sun's ray to move from the center of its nuclear core to the earths surface. Each plant uses photosynthesis to change carbon dioxide in to sugar that feed the plant so it can reproduce. Insects such as bees and moths along with birds pollinate these plants that produce a berry loaded with seed and sweet juice to be consumed to spread more plants. All this I have written takes place every year for life and your going to the Wal-mart to buy GMO produce covered in insecticides. Use what is freely available for you to use and you'll be happy and healthy. I will blog my wine, cider, beer and vinegar recipes along with helpful notes at some point in time and I want you to try a different way of life. A life that takes you on an adventure teaching you the secrets of the Gauley.
